The Ultimate Sanding System

The Ultimate Sanding System Best Practices

Has this ever happened to you when sanding a bowl on the lathe? You stick a sanding disc on your hook and loop holder and before you know it the thing goes flying off in the wood chips or gets sucked into your vac system. You put it on again if you can find it and the darn if it doesn't go flying again. You come to the sad realization that the Velcro hook part on the $9.00 to $21.00 holder has worn down to the point where it won’t hold any longer. You now have the perfect solution to that problem with our versatile Roloc system.  You don’t rip sanding discs on and off the same holder any longer. Instead you twist on and off a new holder on the same holder stem.  You keep the same sand paper on the holder until it is no longer any good. That way you don’t wear out the holder or the paper for a long long time.  When you do, we supplied replacement hook Velcro with an industrial adhesive back to fix it.

We also give you a 10mm thick intermittent pad for extra softness for those tight curves in small bowls (see photos). You can also use a 3-inch holder on a 2-inch stem for extra flex.  Lastly, if you need to do some hand sanding, these holders are easy to grab and will get into the tight spaces. With just a twist of the wrist and you have a compact hand sander with all the grits you need. We suggest using a Sharpie marker to write the grit on the side of a holder as shown in the picture. Just line them up and go to sanding. See the photo of them mounted to peg board attached to my lathe. They screw right in. Easy to see and grab the one you need.

When you are done with one grit, just pop off the holder and screw on the next grit. Its that easy. This way you  change the pad holder on the ROLOC  STEM INSTEAD OF RIPPING  THE SANDING DISC ON AND OFF THE HOLDER AND WEARING OUT THE VELCRO. Join the many turners who have come to realize this is a great sanding system.  What's more - You are getting what really is 10 sanding pad holders for the price of 3 decent ones anywhere else.  Not only that but intermittent pads sell for about $4.00 each anywhere else and you are getting 10 of those as well. These items sold separately would easily sell for close to $200 elsewhere. This deal is a no-brainer.

WHAT COMES IN THE KIT:

  • Five (5) 3-inch and (5) 2-inch sanding pad holders  - These are the light colored thick foam pads in the back row of the first picture. These have velcro hooks on the bottom for attaching the sand paper.
  • Five (5) 3-inch and (5) 2-inch intermittent soft sanding pad holders - These are in the middle of the picture and are 10mm soft sanding pad holders. One side has velcro hook and the other side has velcro loop. It attached to the sanding pad holders described above and then the sanding pad goes on top it it for a softer pad which will enable you to get into deeper contours.
  • One (1) 3-inch and one (1) 2-inch Roloc Stem sanding pad stem (or mandrel). These are at either end of the middle row next to the intermittent pads. These are mounted in your drill and the sanding pad holders twist on and off these when changing grits.
  • Five (5) 3-inch and (5) 2-inch velcro repair discs. These are in the front two rows. If you ever wear out a sanding pad holders velcro you can peel the paper off the back of these to expose industrial grade adhesive and apply it to the sanding pad holder for a new velcro back.
