I now have the 600 and 1000 and they are fantastic!
I have a sharpening business and I recently added the 600 Grit Spartan to my collection of CBN wheels for my Tormek T8 and let me tell you I thought I loved the 1000 Grit but the 600 is just as awesome. I use it for very dull knives. What blows me away is that it can get a knife almost as sharp as the 1000 Grit. It gives a more toothy edge but it's level of sharpness in mind blowing. I use the 600 Grit for my restaurants chef knives. If I want even more sharpness then I just swap to the 1000 Grit for a few passes. I may just have to get the 1200 next.
Tornado CBN wheels replaced my Tormek water wheels.
I got the Tornado 200 grit wheel for my Tormek system. It worked so great I got the 1000 grit next. This covered two ends of my work. I have sense ordered the 400 and 600. That's how great I think these wheels are. I should have done this months ago. No more mess with water and reshaping. The Tornado wheels fit my T8 even more precise than the original Tormek wheels did. Great job guys, I'll never go back to the watery mess and having to readjust angles every time I need to change wheels.
Better than I expected!
I purchased the 10" Spartan 200 grit CBN for my Tormek. I primarily sharpen knives, scissors, chisels and drill bits. Sharpening large bits 1/2" to 7/8" takes forever with the standard Tormek SG250 grinding wheel so I tried a CBN for the Tormek grinder. I wish I had purchased one sooner. Very aggressive. Very flat and true wheel. With the 200 grit, it does leave a rougher finish than the SG250, as expected. I will get either a 600 or 800 grit next, which will allow me to switch wheels for a final pass. Love this wheel!
Two thumbs up!
I am a long time woodworker who only recently got into turning. While I liked sharperning my bowl gouges on my Tormek, I was constantly resurfacing the wheel before I could sharpen my plane irons and chisels. The Tornado wheel completely eliminated that problem! Now I just swap out the wheel depending on my sharperning needs. The CBN wheel is much faster on HSS and the 600 grit leaves a great edge. I could not be happier with my investment.
